BHP has an opportunity right now to make a real difference in the politics of climate action.

On 16 November, BHP is hosting its AGM. In preparation, BHP is surveying its shareholders and we want you to tell them what you think of their support for the climate-wrecking Adani mega-mine.

On 16 November, BHP is hosting its AGM. In preparation, BHP is surveying its shareholders and we want you to tell them what you think of their support for the climate-wrecking Adani mega-mine.

You see, for years now the Minerals Council of Australia (MCA) has been actively lobbying the government and running public campaigns to delay and reverse any action on climate change.

BHP is the biggest financial member of the MCA. These activities by the MCA go directly against BHP's own strong climate policy position.

The MCA's climate position has become so radical BHP has publicly distanced itself from the MCA.

The MCA is also one of the biggest supporters of the Adani mega-mine.

At the MCA's behest, the federal government is considering giving billionaire coal mining company Adani a billion dollars of Australian taxpayers’ money through the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) for their coal project.

It’s time BHP stops funding climate denial through its membership of the MCA and this is your opportunity to tell them.

We've turned their submission paper (pictured above) into an easy email tool. Send an email to the BHP Executive and tell them you would like BHP to:

  • BHP to quit the Minerals Council of Australia
  • BHP to publicly state its opposition to the $1 billion NAIF loan to Adani.

The deadline for submissions is 9 November!

Tell BHP to stand up for climate!

BHP has the opportunity right now to make a real difference in the politics of climate action in Australia.

Thanks to the Minerals Council of Australia, the federal government is deciding whether to give Adani a billion dollars of taxpayers’ money through the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF).

In the lead up to the BHP AGM, BHP is surveying its shareholders. Let the Big Australian know we want it to oppose the NAIF loan, and to quit the Minerals Council of Australia!
